People on Twitter and Instagram have been rejoicing at the news, saying that it was long overdue with the ride standing there for around 30 years and taunting “racists whose log flume ride has been taken away from them”. #Disney log flume ride full
Image credits: Human Rights Network If you’re not familiar with The Princess and the Frog, give its trailer a go Experience Splash Mountain, Disneyland's classic mix of dark ride and water based log flume based around Song of the South sequences, all from a full 360 POV. The Human Rights Network released a short video explaining the racist undertones of Song of the South He gave a number of suggestions, including making Mama Odie’s place the location for the queue and the loading area, the first drop, all of the lift hills, and surrounding areas to be a bayou setting with fireflies at night and a foggy swamp during the day, and many more. If your here to hurl mean comments your energy would be much better spent doing something else more productive, there are plenty of petitions on this site and plenty of foundations that need support right now.Disney Park aficionado Frederick Chambers has actually been working on a retheme of Splash Mountain into The Princess and the Frog weeks before the official announcement, saying that it shouldn’t be too expensive. However this is just a log ride in a theme park, abbeloved one yes, but at the end of the day it’s just a ride, there are more pressing matters in the world currently. If you’re willing to have a discussion and potentially educate from a different perspective I appreciate that as well. The classic log flume ride Splash Mountain is. I appreciate everybody who supports it however as always with things that get attention like this there is a lot of nastiness. Disney parks should be a home for all to enjoy regardless of race, age, whatever your background may be. I saw the discussion on twitter about retheming the ride, was speaking with friends about how there should be a petition to have a count on how many people actually support that idea and decided to make one since I couldn't find one. I really didn’t think this would get any attention.

Since this has gotten so much attention I just want to throw in this edit with a few things.
#Disney log flume ride movie
The best next step to remove all traces of this racist movie would be to re-theme Splash Mountain into a Princess and the Frog themed ride. Its slightly longer than Disneylands, has some different show scenes, and the log ride. Disney has removed Song of the South from its library, refusing to share it on DVD or their streaming services. Splash Mountain is a Disney-style amusement-park flume ride.

While the rides storyline is not an exact version of the movies plot line it is derivative from it, the characters, the songs and locations are all main features of the ride. It would be fairly easy to transition the ride into the bayou of New Orleans considering the location of the ride in each park. Splash Mountain is located in Critter Country/Frontierland in the parks, an area very close to New Orleans Square in Disneyland. As well as a much bigger merchandising opportunity for Princess and the Frog. This change could kill two birds with one stone, remove the offensive stereotypical theming the ride currently has and bring a much needed diversity to the parks.
